The high ground of Dartmoor provides the backdrop for the Country House. Vast landscapes, brooding storms and an abundance of wildlife;the National Park covers some 368 square miles and is one of the UK's last remaining true wildernesses. Beautiful scenery abounds and every season brings its own delights and colours.
Centrally located and an excellent base for exploring the moor and surrounding little towns is Prince Hall. The Nine bedrooms are extremely dog-friendly, renowned for its food and well suited for trying any number of outdoor pursuits. At the heart of your stay is a very warm welcome and first class hospitality. Nothing is too much trouble.
In the colder months, roaring fires help to create a lovely cosy atmosphere throughout the different lounges as the large windows frame the ever changing weather systems outside. In the height of summer you can relax outdoors until late evening. The perfect place to get away from it all.
If you really do still have to work or use a computer/tablet we have WiFi available in our lovely comfortable lounges, WiFi is not available in our bedrooms.
Birds here at Prince Hall....
We have just had a great report of the nesting boxes all being used by Nuthatches, Blue Tit's and Great Tit's as well as Starlings. which is wonderful news, we have had the Spotted Flycatchers have 2 successful broods here now.
We also have New breeding species found here, which was the Reed Bunting - these birds need wet grassland for nesting (which we on Dartmoor do have plenty off)
We have a wonderful amount of Skylarks and Meadow Pipits around the grounds of the Country House, and of course not too far away we have the wonderful Snipe which seem to be breeding well here.
The winter season we have a Large number of Redwing and Fieldfare along with flocks of Finches.
